Charity Chat 2024
Patty Swan - Empty Bowls VA Peninsula and have been volunteering in some way since the start. We raised $40,000 this year for food charities. I make pottery bowls and drawstring bags for the annual event. I can bring samples.
Susan Anthony - Leader for Piecemakers of Virginia Group (QOV). We sew and award quilts to veterans and active duty military touched by war. We meet at Sunshine Quilt Corner the first saturday of each month and sew as a group. We accept donations of red, white, blue, gold fabrics and all sizes and items that can be used in raffle baskets.
Gala Damato - Participates in the September Day Chapter Program and brings samples. I don't really support a charity but I support The Hamilton, an Assisted Living facility in York County. Once a month I bring in fabric and supplies for the residents to make something for their room or the facility. The residents design their item and I return them completed the next week. In the past two years, we have made placemats, walker bags, zipper pouches and seasonal garlands to hang in their dining room. I have plenty of fabric but sometimes need fusible fleece and other Pellon products for the monthly project. I usually meet the first or second Wednesday afternoon of the month. I can use ideas of useful items to make with the residents. I can always use donations of fusible fleece.
Jeanne Surber - Hilton Baptist Church Pillowcases for kids Christmas event.
Terry Payne - Little dresses for Africa. We accept donations of quilting cotton fabrics and elastic.
